August 31, 2007 - FISHING REPORT - NEWS UPDATE!
It’s been another great week here at Walters Cove. Most fisherman have taken in limits and at least had a chance or two at a big one. The fishing has taken a bit of a down turn and the weather is what we have been blaming it on. Maybe a little rain after two weeks of sun made the fish move. Not to mention we have had a tough time getting to all the spots we want to.
When we have been able to get out to the strawberry patch the halibut fishing has been good. Guys have been bringing in limits and the size of the jig caught fish has been good. A number of nice sized Halibut have hit the dock as well as some monsters that have been released. As always trolling close to the bottom for salmon is producing limits of chicken sized halibut.
The Chinook fishing has been spotty but definatly not bad. The fish have been in scattered groups but when you hit one you usually get more. The size of the fish have been very respectable, averaging in the mid twenties. We have also seen a lot more tyee’s around. Maybe were heading into the quality not quantity part of the season.
